Rainy, cool, dismal day. Arose 7:30 A.M. Breakfast. Read paper etc. Out on business. Dinner. Mother, father, H.H. & I to Delanson to look over H.H.'s church. Supper. In evening to Rexford to H.H.-M.M.B. announcement party. Fine occasion. To bed 12;30 P.M.

Delanson must be where Hanford will be working that summer as an intern preacher.  Hanford and Marion are having their engagement party that evening. They will not be married for two more years, however. I wonder if long engagements were common in those days?

When Stanford read the paper at breakfast, I wonder what he thought of the below item?
