Beautiful, bright, mild day. Arose 9 A.M. Breakfast. Nellie's birthday. Froze ice cream. Chicken dinner. Gus Heckler cut hay. Supper. Out for ride in evening to Charlton etc. Home. Talked. To bed 10 P.M.

Gus Heckler was Gustavus Heckler, who lived in Glenville. He was 60 years old in 1922, but was a farmer who owned his own farm and probably got paid well for cutting the Closson's hay, perhaps even in kind. He was married, with two children living at home in 1920. His wife was Analide, his children Roy and Hilda. Gus's parents were both born in Germany. He died in 1928.
Analide lived until 1952. She was the daughter of Judge Alexander Vedder of Schenectady. Below is a picture of his house as it looks now.
