Ffair & cool & breezy. Arose 8 A.M. Breakfast. Shaved etc. Father, Mother, Ruth, Marion, H.H. & I out for trip 9:30 A.M. to 10 P.M. 180 miles. To Utica for dinner. Went through Beechnut Packing Co. Back via Ilion Gorge, Cedarville, Jordanville, Little Falls etc. Called to see Jap [Jasper] at Utica State Hospital. Enjoyable trip. To bed 11:30 P.M.

The Beechnut Packing Co was located in Canajoharie, NY. In the 1920s they were packing all kinds of foods, including peanut butter and bacon (a short-lived offering), but not yet chewing gum or baby food. Below is a photo of their plant in the 1950s.
